Three Things I want to Share With YOU.

This is an article written on love, and surprisingly a woman didn’t write this. I really Enjoyed, it, I hope you do too. Falling In Love. It talks about the difference of falling in love when you are lonely and when you are ready.

The Second Things is a video I recently saw on Facebook. Seems fitting since Mardi Gra is on Saturday.

And the Third,  is a short Film. It goes for around 10 minuets and is about sexism, I found watching it to be enlightening and made me feel so glad that I have been never made to feel inferior due to my gender.  For some reason I cant get the video directly from you tube, so I’ll just attach the web address, HERE.

5 Worthwhile Things to Spend Money On

Sometimes you may just feel a need to spend your hard earned cash, but on what?

Are you a minimalist or have everything you need already? Well this post is for you.

1. A subscription to Journal Article Database.
Well if you need a reason for how awesome this is, maybe this isn’t top priority for you. I suggest Science Direct ( which you can see  Here) because there is nothing more annoying than doing research only to find you can’t access the article you want to read. I got my mum a subscription for her birthday last year and she’s on it every week telling me about a study that was done and what happened as a result. If you are sick of a friend or family member calling you to let you know your favorite food is apparently going to kill us all because they read it on a website or heard it on the radio, Then this is a great gift for yourself and them at the same time.

2. A new pair or Socks
It is practical, we all need socks.  (Unless of course you live in the tropics and have an aversion to wearing closed in shoes…) I wear boots almost every single day and it’s nice to have a good pair of socks that I know wont vanish as I climb a flight of stairs. I used to have 8 pairs of only so-so socks, I got rid of two pairs and spend $40 on a new pair which I wear every second day because they make putting on shoes enjoyable.

3. A festival ticket, I personally dislike the types of people who go to the average music festival, I think we all do deep down.  They smell of body spray and have no concept:
a) Of Personal Space
b) That they look like a huge douche.
Anyway, the type of  Festival I am referring you to look at is one that has talks/lectures and guest speakers on topics that matter to you.
For example Woodford Folk Festival. You can look at my post on it HERE, I must admit I spent the majority of the 7 days being a sponge and soaking up all the things I learnt.
You get to meet like minded people who you would normally never meet, and if you play your cards right, you wont run into that many stereotypical festival goers.

4. A massage.
Unless your partner is a masseuse, physio, musculoskeletal  therapist  or chiropractor, chances are you are missing out.
It’s nice to take some time out and feel to good effects of a massage, specifically the whole relaxing thing.

5. A good quality tea or coffee
I’m not talking one of those fancy home machines that you honestly don’t need ( unless coffee is your pride and joy). I’m talking about the actual thing you add hot water to and drink. After switching  brand that you buy at the supermarket constantly, I went to a Tea Center in Chatswood and found a tea that just makes my day. It’s loose tea leaves and set me back about $40 again (damn those socks), but you know it was worth it. I recommend going to a tea center and trying a few out before you buy a packet.

What Should I Be thinking about? – Health

Good Evening Everyone!

After just coming down with a bug, I realized how side tracked I get from looking after myself.

When I’m not at Work, I am at University, and when I am not at those two places I am studying or trying to have a social life.

I must admit, a girlfriend of mine from high school, who I used to rarely see, just broke up with her boyfriend and cam running back into my life wanting attention which I made time for, sacrificing My daily exercise and earlier bed time for. Anyway Over the summer I was working 6 days a week, around 10 hour days, and taking two online classes, Now I am back at University more than full time, taking 6 classes  and working two days a week.

So even though I am strapped for time, now that I am sick and the work is in mountains here are some things you should know about.

1. In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan.

You can check it out HERE. Ok, so why should you check it out?
In my degree, my classmates are constantly telling me that certain foods are bad. And if you listen to talk shows or ‘Health’ podcasts there is a lot of conjecture thrown around. I am just speaking for myself but I have noticed a lot of people I know developing food anxiety. They get so freaked out that everything will kill them or give them cancer. Now these people have me to tell them that their food is fine to eat and that they aren’t going to die from not eating a superfood, you guys don’t.  Michael Pollans book is something I recommend you take a  peek at.

Dont get me wrong, I’m not saying you can eat what ever you want.  I’m saying eat and drink in moderation,  avoid processed foods when you can, but don’t let fear stop you from eating your dairy or meat products.

2. Chemical Maze 

This is  an App you can get on your phone or a book. Check it out HERE. Why do we love it?
I love it because I always read the ingredients and as much fun as playing the game of  ‘Guess what the Numbers mean’ is, I can actually find out what it is, what it causes and how it is used. In my 30 minute break on Monday between classes I ran down to 7/11 to buy an apple, and I just happened to pick up a packet of corn chips and read the ingredients list. I looked at Mission and was impressed, there was like 4-5 ingredients (and it is gf) then I looked at a packet the same size of Doritos… HOLY CRAP! I dare you to read the ingredients and look them up on Chemical Maze.

3. Shop Ethical 

It is an App, click HERE, Why do we dig this?
OK so this isn’t necessary for everyone to check out, but if you are one of those people who cares that their eggs are free range and not just because they are bigger, this is the app for you. Shopping at the supermarket is hard right? Well for people who stay awake at night wondering if your sheets were made ethically LOOK NO FURTHER. 

4. Slow Death By Rubber Duck

This is possibly the number 1 thing I am buying for anyone who likes science. A friend of mine who is doing a science degree, has taken a year off to started a Internship. And what does she get to do? She analyses the toxicity of uses of things like tattoo ink or hair dye. Things that a lot of people have a repeat expose to. Once you start you sometimes don’t stop.
You can check out the book HERE. Now you may ask why I included my anecdote about my friend, well that is simple, this book looks at the effects of repeat expose to everyday items and how it effects our health.

Why am I looking at this?
Because you want to be aware and not stick your head in the sand.
