My beautiful cousin got married last night. The wedding was held at the beautiful vineyard Stillwater, 1 hour outside Melbourne. I was lucky enough to stay 10 minutes away from it for two nights. The catch was I was staying with my family, my two aunts, one being mother of the bride, my great aunt, my cousin (who was sister of the bride, she made a great matron of honor) my mum and my poor uncle being the only man. My two male cousins and the next addition to the family (my eldest cousins girlfriend) all were able to get out of staying with us and were lucky enough to get accommodation right near the hot springs. Which was well worth it I found out this morning after soothing my aching body there. After our relaxing morning we had brunch at the Taste Station, a great place in the suburb of Roaebud… I kid you not.

Personal Space

Personal Space?

Well mine has now been invaded from all the clothes I bought in Melbourne.

What actually happened in Melbourne?

Well that is a good question, it all happened in a whirl wind of five days. But mainly I have come home with a lot of new things that I neither wanted or needed and a hefty $600 to pay off my card.

Some people eat when they are depressed or stressed, some people shop, some people sleep a lot.

I unforgettably do all three, But this time I didnt get to sleep any extra.

My triggers in general are:

  • Clutter
  • Eating Unhealthly, the sugar makes me feel so bad
  • Not sleeping Enough
  • Lack of excersise

I shopped, ate junk food (which made it worse), I didn’t sleep well and I didn’t exercises.
The shopping, while I am out and spending money is great, well it puts a thin layer over the depression until you get back and find so much stuff in your house, imagine that but multiplied by 8 peoples belongings scattered in a two bedroom unit. It made everything so much worse, add some M&Ms and maybe 5 packets. Not to mention, while in my stupid state of mind I forgot I couldn’t eat gluten and on three separate occasions had french toast for breakfast and spend the afternoon being out of action.

But finally after getting home and looking at all the stuff I bought I realized I wanted nor needed any of it and it was simply because I could.

before I left for Melbourne I thought I had too much stuff in my small room, but now it’s a lot more than what I bargained for.

Personal Space

It’s personal right? well I thought my bedroom was my personal space, but it seems that no matter how hard I try and put things away they keep spilling out. These aren’t my things though, that’s the problem.  If they were mine, I would get rid of them.

All my clothes currently fit into 2 draws in my chest of draws. the bottom draw I set aside for Dave….

He doesn’t live with me.. but somehow all of his things are at my house. Not only does he have more clothes than I do, but the ones he doesn’t put in the draws, all live on the floor of my room… which let me tell you is not a relaxing thing when you hate clutter.

Melbourne

So Melbourne is treating me well. The weather specifically, it was cold in the morning when I was rugged up in bed. But when I went shopping in Bentley today to fill up my time before we left for the vineyards, it was SO HOT.
Well maybe not hot, but I was wearing a singlet top.
Instead of keeping to my minimalist goal… I may have bought some clothes.
To me, when ever “Albert’s Girls”, AKA my mum and her sisters, get to getter there is shopping to be had. And since I’m the baby of the family I have been spoiled! I saw many many great shops but the one which almost broke my bank account was a shop called “dressed@329”.
4 dresses later I found myself again in another shop, where I found another two dresses, one of which I decided to wear to the wedding tomorrow. I also fell into the trap of “fake tan” I just couldn’t help myself, it looks really good. Normally I wouldn’t recommend it but I used “Bondi Sands” in the dark colour and I’m really pale usually but it looks fabulous! Can’t deny it, it is no where near orange. I love it!

Victoria is deceptively like NSW Red Hill

I can’t believe how close we are to the coast. About an hour out of Melbourne.

Honey

Yesterday at university my day was brightened by a boy whose name is unknown to me. He handed me a jar of hunny after I went crazy when someone told me his dad was a bee keeper, I don’t know what it is about bees or my infatuation with them but the day earlier I had cornered him and basically enthused how cool his dad was. I am his dads number 1 fan!

And to top off the generosity today my aunt, the mother of the groom was lent a crystal necklace from a stranger for the wedding. Thank you and keep up the good work

Arrived Melbourne

I arrived in Melbourne today just in time for my cousins wedding on Saturday.

We arrived to my aunts house to a lovely cup of tea after my other aunt, also from sydney, navigated the crazy Melbourne drivers

Very well deserved.
After that myself, my mum, my two aunts and my great aunt all took a stroll.

After a quick dinner we darted off to Chadstone Shopping Center. Off to bed

Eskimo Nell. The poem. I have been allowed into the world of hilarious poems by my Uncle Jan, a man of great wit and smarts. A Malaysian born Irish man stands at 6ft3 and is as warm as anything, for many years my drinking partner and favorite companion at family events on my mums side of the family. On my mums side of the family I have my aunts, my mums two sisters, the husband of one, jan, who has been the most fantastic family member and my four cousins…. All my senior by 7 years and more. I’m the baby with the oldest being 35 and the youngest 27, 2 boys to one aunt and my uncle and 2 girls to my aunt and her ex husband who almost wasn’t invited to his daughters wedding because he is a down right prat.

Childhood Places

As a child I used to play in the garden with my dog at my childhood home. When you are a kid everything seems so much more magical. To me, it still is. I can still see how I thought that my backyard was enchanted with fairies.
The trees created a shelter for me to play under as I climbed up the steep yard to look out onto a view of water

It was all mine. My kingdom.
While the junk lying around may be different.

20130422-121550.jpg the timber and piping feels like it has played a part of my childhood, as homes for lizards and pixies.
Somehow all I feel is wonder when I go back.

A Little Nature Before Work

This is the hight of procrastination at its best. Arrived to work early?
Well here is a solution for you. if you are like me and it takes you almost 2 hours to get to work and you can’t be late, I like to get there early, but sitting behind the same desk for … Well all day, is just depressing. I decided to open up and drop my bag off at work before embarking on a stroll around the local area. I know it’s creepy taking pictures of other people’s houses without their permission so, street side gardens it had to be.
