You would not believe it.. We spent our Easter eve and morning in Dubbo hospital after Dave’s eye started to play up one week after he got something in it at work. Turns out the particle of dust was a piece of metal… And it turns out it has a rust ring, and regular doctors couldn’t get out… Yay… The adventure continues, after spending Easter in pain we drove back to sydney and are waiting for the eye hospital to open at 9am… Yay public holidays.
Day 2 in Dubbo!
I woke up to cows outside my window. After running around in the dark after them I gave up and went back to bed. But now that the sun is up I can properly show you where I am.
The Easter tradition for Dave’s family ranges from the girls shopping at Myer with all the sales after going to the local markets at 9. Then coming back to find the yabbies in the dams with the boys then the famous YABBIE RACES! Yeah I thought it was weird to but I’m so excited!
To top the day off le boyfriend has ended up in hospital with a foreign body in his eye. It’ll be a late night for Easter eve
For the Easter weekend David and I are trekking up to Dubbo to see his family. We left sydney at 4pm after I finished work.
My first day in Dubbo was so much fun that I didn’t even take one picture. I learnt to ride a quad bike. Something which I have never done before. We went 4WDriving, I went on the back of Dave’s motorbike … Nothing big in itself except that there was no helmet or a road. It was amazing, like a roller coaster or a plane trip with turbulence! I loved it!
Sorry did I mention cows? They came right up to the bedroom window! Mooing like crazy… A better alarm than anything.
The many games of scrabble were enjoyable. All I’ve wanted to do here is turn my phone off and just embrace nature.
Well the suns finally up. HAPPY EASTER
So after studying Microbiology for a while I have come to the conclusion Vaccines are risky as well as a good idea.
I personally am sitting on the fence.
I think it is important to vaccine against MMR (Measles Mumps and Rubella) and Whooping cough, but some other ones I think are questionable.
The Influenza jab that is given to elderly people, and people with a weaker immune system, you know the one. By the time people are given the vaccine there are already so many new strains that it is not worth it in my opinion In resent research the side effects that are not just temporary have been disastrous from some of these vaccines. An example : A woman was given a flu jab and resulted in a side effect (it may be only Fox News but if you brows youtube you will find so much)
My mother swears that she got Rheumatoid Arthritis from a jab she had in her late 30s, this is debatable.
But new evidence of accidental terminations (miscarages in women) when vaccines against N1H1 (Swine Flu) by the World Health Organisation’s advice. A few Whistle blowers from WHO have recently come out and let a little slip. Study Results. It is up to you to make up your own mind, but I am just saying.
Those women infected with the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus (even if it is just a vaccine) had an increased risk of miscarriages and stillbirths. But isn’t it common knowledge you don’t give a Pregnant woman a jab? we don’t tattoo or pierce pregnant women, you don’t take medication unless you really need if your a pregnant so why on earth would you advise pregnant women to have a injection of “dead viruses”. lets hold on for a second, Viruses float around or what ever in our environment, it is the “lock and key” that keeps us safe from contracting everything that comes in our path. But I just think we already have an ok chance with these ones, viruses mutate and change so if you do get vaccines, the virus will probably be a different one to what you got immunized against.
I do believe in vaccines against whooping cough and MMR, people who dont have the vaccine and are carrying the virus can have bad effects on pregnant women if exposed to these viruses. So until the virus is gone for good in the sense of these four, like really eradicated then I think vaccines should be given. It is a personal choice to immunize but if you dont have the vaccine and then get sick you dont walk around on the street until you are no longer contagious. If you are sick you stay home. That is what I was taught as a child. You don’t go to school when you are sick or you’ll end up infecting everyone. Its common courtesy.
I think the parents who decided not to vaccine their kids against MMR and Whooping cough should be court marshaled and shot… well not that sever, it is a choice a guess, but when you are infecting others then you are doing a disservice to our community. If the reason you don’t immunize your kids is “But like no one has it anymore so it is fine for my kids not to get vaccinated” then go take a long walk off a short pier. You are the people stopping the progress. Blehhh talking about this makes me annoyed because it is hard to put my opinions into words. I feel it is vital for those viruses to be vaccinated against since it can do real damage to a pregnant ladies baby, but on the other-hand I think getting vaccinated against some other things are useless because to me it is useless.
I was Vaccinated as a child and still managed to get chickenpox but I was immune to the chickenpox in Sydney at the time, I had to go to Melbourne to get it and man did I get it bad.
Give me some feedback on your opinions.
Alright to these books fall under Fantasy and Adventure in my books.
The Fools Gold Books are amazing. I really can not describe how lost I became in them. The first book had be captured by the first chapter.
The Series follows Katla Aransen, a Fiery Red Head From Rockfall.
Rockfall, A island (exactly how it sounds – it has rocks, sheer cliffs that look out to sea) of the Northern Isles, ruled by King Ravn. The people of Rockfall are basically a fishing and farming community, with Katla working in the smithy forging swords. Her Father, Aran Aranson, the Master of Rockfall and her mother, Bera Rolfsen at his side.
The Society of Erya, while it does have a great divide between genders, it is much more relaxed than the Istrian society. The world, Elda is divided into Eyra (Norther Isles) and Istria (The Southern Empire)
Eryan Women of Rockfall: “…Women listen to no man and are not told what to do or controlled by the males in their families. As children they are educated alongside boys in schools, they can often choose their own husband and renounce them if the marriage went awry.. They run the farms when their husbands were away and held sway over their own households, even when the husbands came home;.. they could earn their own money, and inherit estates; some women traveled and fought and had no man at all, but lived by their wits and their skills…” While Women of this society are still not equal to men it is very similar to a westerner view in my opinion.
Istrian Women: Men write the rules and basically send people to the fires (Burning people alive, a very medieval thing ) who don’t observe the rules. The religion followed in Istria is very “restrictive”, rules enforced by punishment and pain. Women “help men perform worship”, they are considered sacred and important.. well my understanding is they are “sacred” for their bodies. Women are locked away and covered up by Sabtka, kept like toys used for pleasure, The religion rules the society, and women are something to be owned and have no freedom. Remind you of another culture in today world?
God Of The North: Sur – God of the Wind and the Sea, of “rock and wild places and creatures of the deep”
God Of The South: Falla – Goddess worshiped through sex basically because it is “The goddesses will”
North: Pale Hair or Auburn Haired, with blue or grey eyes with light skin weathered by the elements.
The dress is usually more encouraging movement.
South: Dark skinned and Dark Haired,
The dress is usually expensive or brightly colored fabrics (sometimes outlandish), women are painted u like a doll, their hands, if their family is well off or a houris (Courtesan/ Whore) to someone rich, then their hands may have henna designs on them with painted nails.
Characters You Should Know
Aran: Master of Rockfall, A Captain of his ship,
Bera: Mistress of Rockfall, Runs her home strictly, tries to equip Katla with the skills to be married and is fighting a never ending battle with her daughter.
Halli: Eldest child of Bera and Aran, loves Jenna with a passion. Favors Katla over Fent
Fent: Twin of Katla, Has Fiery Red hair, and also a personality to match, just like Katla.
Katla: Twin of Fent, skilled at making swords, Feisty fighter, determined to be her own woman and not marry
Jenna: Daughter of a Shipmaker, Katla’s best friend, long blond hair.
Erno Hamson: Cousin to Halli, Fent and Kartla, A strong man in love with Katla ( remember back then it was ok to marry blood relatives) Adopted by Aran and Bera and lived with them from a young age
Virelai: Strange, Tall, Pale man who practices magic. He looks after Rose Eldi, travels with nomads
Rose Eldi: A pale Woman who can capture men’s hearts and minds
Alisha: A footloose (Nomad), who is daughter of the great scryer, Alisha
Tycho Issian: Religious Fanatic and cruel crazed man who is driven by lust.
Selen Issian: Daughter of Tycho, is a lovely girl who is used to the high life and has no intention to marry Tanto Vingo even though it is intended to clear her fathers debts
Tanto Vingo: Handsome exterior but corrupt and cruel, vile man. He wants Selen Issian at any cost
Saro Vingo: Brother to the cruel Tanto, a kind soul who loves animals and has only compassion for those around him. Tanto and Saro’s relationship is strained, Tanto the eldest and “golden child” has become twisted and the torment he likes to put on Saro becomes more and more as the story progresses.
The books by Jude Fisher ( Alias name) were eye opening, looking at a mirror image of our own world, the only difference is, magic was a big thing then ( worth burning for)
To Compare the two cultures without needing to even state it obviously shows just how well these books are written.
First book starts off with Allfair, A annual event which all traders will attend, it is a great chance for the two cultures to exchange goods, the only problem is the long and forever ongoing hatred between the two. The temporary hold on war is nearly shaken by Katla’s adventurous streak after climbing Sur’s Castle, a Rock that rises of the Moonfell Plain, the only problem with her rock climbing exploits here is that the Southerners, see it as Falla’s Rock, a sacred place where no scantily clad woman should be allowed to climb, that starts off the adventure of a lifetime, literally a lifetime, with Katla’s friends and family killing and being killed as the tale unfolds.

Hey guys! So tomorrow I am off to Dubbo for the long weekend to spend it with le boyfriends family…. Who I have only met once for a Hi-Bye moment. But anyway I am leaving today after work so today’s outfit was tricky, after all I don’t have many clothes to work with.
For today at work I am starting with the shoes. After really understanding how bad high heeled shoes can be (believe me, after talking to my Anatomy and Physiology teacher about high heels I have decided to ditch all my shoes that aren’t flat. I mean it’s just not worth it) I am left with only some red flats and even these I am skeptical about wearing ( they lack support) and some of my less appropriate for work shoes (hiking boots and sneakers).
So I really have to be careful about the outfit. I have a choice between few tops and few bottoms or I can simply wear a black and white dress again that I wore recently ( I guess that’s the consequences when you cut your wardrobe)
The down side is to this dress it is both very short and very reveling… Basically it only leaves a little to the imagination.
